These lights are very very cool. I installed them into different lamps, downloaded the Sengled app for my android phone, and I was off and running. I have been creating scenes of different lighting schemes using both white and colored lights for illumination and atmosphere. Everything I’ve created in the app has supposedly translated over to Hey Google, but the google assistant fails to operate the lights on spoken command. The Google Home app is also very buggy to the point I don’t even use it, relying instead on the Sengled app. So it’s not quite true that these lights operate without a hub. I think it takes owning an Alexa to make these lights respond to spoken command because google is an epic fail. Edit: Not 2 weeks after ordering, One of my colored bulbs has died. Not an acceptable service life and I had to call Amazon for a replacement. After working with the Sengled Home app for 2 weeks I’ve found that it features lighting effects, yet in neither scenes or routines based on time is it possible to save these effects. I went to the Playstore page to suggest adding this in the comments and the existing comments scared me. Most were complaints about the app just going dead and failing to work any longer for no apparent reason at any random time. Now I’m paranoid about the life of the app on my phone.

I do not recommend to buy smart bulbs of different brands. I got Echo 5th gen. which came with smart bulb Amazon Basics brand. Then I bought this brand to go together with the one I had. To make them work together in the same light fixture in hallway was a pain… I had to call my IT friend to figure it out… and still if I turn off the switch on wall by mistake they don’t work the way it was supposed to. In hallway as I have 2 light fixtures with two bulbs in each and one of them is Amazon brand… so you figure out the rest of the story…

Recomendables.

These take a while to set up, because you have to connect each bulb separately. The changing color is are great, especially if you suffer from migraines and need dim lighting. I control from my phone or Alexa, and am loving g the end result.

Being dimmable was the main reason for the purchase. I’ve already got a household full of lamps with this brand’s bulbs, and they all work wonderfully. Being dimmable is hugely convenient when you’re trying to get enough light but not so much that it feels like you’re being spotlighted.

I bought these for their WiFi functionality, as a lazy person who does not always want to get up to turn on the lights, and instead of buying WiFi plugs for the lamps. They function well, and when paired with the Alexa, you can set routines and timers. The app that connects with these bulbs is easy to use, and allows you to choose your own color, apart from the ones in the Alexa app. My only complaint to these bulbs is that on the occasion your power goes out, the bulbs do not always reconnect to your WiFi and you have to go through the setup process again.

Update 11/19/21: If I could, I’d make it zero negative stars. There is no reason that the first bulb stopped working last month, but yesterday it turns out everyone’s Sengled bulbs stopped working. Why? Because our bulbs in our homes on our wifi and our app don’t work if their server goes home. Our bulbs run through their server. So many people spent hours trying to get our lights to work. I deleted my bulbs and tried to re-set them. I deleted the app and it didn’t work. After hours I went to Google for help and found that they tweeted that all of our bulbs stopped working because THEIR servers went down! My Hue bulbs cost more, and I had a hub foe them, but they came through my own home. The fact that everybody’s lights have to work through their server is ridiculous. They said we should just use our lights using the on/off switch. Thankfully I could in this apartment. At my last one I had two bulbs in a spot where I couldn’t reach and could only use the app or Alexa. At mt current apartment I bought these to convert my lamps into colored dimmer lamps. They were too bright for me to use in my bedroom, and I had to go out and buy a lower watt bulb not because my apartment wifi went down, not because my electricity went down, not because my lamps broke. No, my personal lights in my apartment stopped working because their server crashed, and it took them all day to fix it. It’s back up, and one light is working. The light I deleted yesterday will not connect. Nor will yhe spare. I cannot figure out why I cannot get that light connected. Ia it because of the bulb or is it still their server? I have no idea. I’ll be buying new hue lights and throwing these out.

11/18/21: I purchased four bulbs and installed two. I was pleased. They were great until they weren’t. These bulbs were cheaper and easier to install than my old Hue bulbs and hadn’t required the purchase of a hub. Except at one month the first bulb started being non-responsive. Now the second bulb (2.5 months) is non-responsive. The problem isn’t Alexa because the app is also not responsive. To make it worse, with the second bulb, I will set it, it won’t turn on, then 10 min later suddenly it will. That’s actually less useful then completely unresponsive.

I’m off to buy more Hue bulbs. I never had problems with them, I just lost them in a box somewhere when I moved in August, and I still haven’t found them.

Funcionan bien y me agrada ya no tener que buscar el switch del foco. Puedes programarlo para que prenda de forma normal y es muy cómoda la luz cálida. Lo malo es el precio. Se me hacen muy caros

These seem really good so far. Everyone says the Sengled app is bad, but it has many more options in it for the color changing lights like these. I haven’t had a problem with the app. If anything, the Alexa integration is what’s lacking. It works, and I can give commands to turn them in and off with Alexa but the real options are in the Sengled app. We have had one problem with one of the bulbs being unresponsive, but I believe that was our network not reaching it, not a problem with the bulb.

    12. Drew

After 3 hours of fighting with bulbs that had been connected, I finally figured out the issues. Now all bulbs are working perfectly. The problem was my phone was auto connecting to the Wi-Fi because there was no internet available when it connected to the bulbs. Once I turn this off on my phone the bulbs all connected perfectly. Might want to include this in your setup instructions

    13. JamesSoler

Bright, easy to use, cheap but…. Not nearly as stable / reliable as the Phillips HUE system. Can deal with the quirks if you only have a few… but if entire home is going color LED, these would not hold up well…. WiFi and memory recall is weak compared to HUE products.
