The Aqara Smart Lock U50 is a keyless American-standard deadbolt that adds Matter and Apple Home Key support at a lower price point than its predecessor. It supports several unlock methods — keypad code, the Aqara Home app, NFC cards/tags, Apple Home Key tap-to-unlock (works with iPhone/Apple Watch even when the device is powered off), and a physical backup key (two included) — but notably has no fingerprint reader. The lock communicates locally over Bluetooth 5.0 and Zigbee 3.0 (plus NFC) with no built-in Wi-Fi or Thread radio, so full remote app access plus Apple HomeKit/Matter, Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT integration require pairing with an Aqara hub. It runs on four AA alkaline batteries (rated up to about 6 months) with a USB-C port for emergency backup power, and is built from zinc alloy with an IPX5 water resistance rating.
